WITH THE SHUSWAP FIRST NATION, WE CELEBRATE OUR 6TH DRINKING WATER ADVISORY REMOVAL!

Our latest water treatment system installation for the Shuswap First Nation marks a significant milestone for both our team and the community! This is our 6th successful water advisory removal project. This achievement is not just a testament to the progress of our water treatment systems, but to the incredible innovations we’ve incorporated along the way. This project highlights the power of collaboration bringing together the Shuswap First Nation, our Clearflo team, and the vital support of Indigenous Services Canada.

What truly set this project apart was the urgency with which we had to work. As winter approached rapidly, we knew we had limited time to complete the system’s deployment and installation if we were to deliver clean, safe water to the community before the cold set in. This tight timeline was a challenge, but it was made possible by the unwavering commitment and expertise of Utilities Manager Vaughn Taylor. In a remarkable display of leadership and determination, Vaughn and his team completed all the necessary civil works in just 10 days! This sort of work would typically take three months. The precision with which this was done speaks volumes about Vaughn’s dedication, as well as the strength of the partnership between our teams.

This project is a true reflection of what can be achieved when we come together with a shared purpose. We are deeply honoured to have played a part in this significant step forward for the Shuswap First Nation, and we remain committed to ensuring access to clean, safe water for all communities.

First Nation sees clean water on all of its reserves after more than 40 years
October 30th, 2024 - CBC Radio

The Bonaparte First Nation has installed water treatment systems to provide clean drinking water to people on all three of its reserves. As Jenifer Norwell reports, it's been in the works for more than four decades.

TODAY WE JOINED IN A CELEBRATION WITH THE ST’UXWTÉWS - BONAPARTE FIRST NATION. THIS WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO COME TOGETHER AND RECOGNIZE THE ACHEIVEMENTS BY ALL INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT.

It was a momentous occasion as the chief, council, and community members gathered to walk through the water treatment systems we designed and built—systems that now provide access to safe, clean water after 40 long years of waiting. On that beautiful day, the clouds parted, allowing the sun to shine down on everyone, illuminating the joy and relief felt in the air. This project was a monumental undertaking that required immense dedication from our team and countless collaborators. The emotional weight of this build was palpable, and the outcome is nothing short of magnificent. We’ve brought clean water to a community that has longed for it, and the impact is profound.

Through this journey, we’ve earned the trust of the community and cultivated lifelong friendships with some of the most resilient and intentional individuals we’ve had the privilege to work alongside. We immersed ourselves in their vibrant community, collaborating with unwavering determination to make this dream a reality. Byron Porter, (Water Manager for Bonaparte), took on this challenge with remarkable courage and tenacity, where many would have shied away. The responsibility was immense, but he embraced it wholeheartedly, earning the pride of the community—and ours as well.

We take immense pride in the systems we create for the rightful stewards of these lands. Our work goes beyond engineering; it’s about nurturing relationships and deepening our understanding of these rich cultures. The wisdom, strength, and resilience of Indigenous peoples inspire us daily, fueling our commitment to work even harder. Our mission transcends the provision of technological solutions; it’s about building trust, learning from one another, and amplifying the voices of Indigenous communities worldwide. Together, we are fostering lasting positive change, one community at a time.

TODAY WE ARE THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE THE SUCCESSFUL TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF OUR LATEST WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS TO THE ST’UXWTÉWS - BONAPARTE FIRST NATION. NAMED RETASKET AND BILLY, THESE SYSTEMS NOW STAND AS BEACONS OF HOPE, PROVIDING ACCESS TO SAFE, CLEAN DRINKING WATER FOR MANY.

Our team has invested countless hours and boundless dedication into this project, navigating the complexities of large-scale construction and the formidable challenge of treating extremely contaminated groundwater. These systems have become more than just engineering achievements; they have grown to symbolize our commitment and partnership. We are deeply honoured and immeasurably proud to have fulfilled our promise and delivered solutions that will have a lasting, positive impact on the community.
These two disruptive technologies will bring about a transformative change in this First Nation community, particularly through our leading edge cleantech, innovative remote communications, and sustainability being powered primarily by renewable energy.
Our designs have not only put an end to longstanding boil water advisories but have also ushered in a new era of sustainable and reliable access to potable water. The impact on the health and well-being of these communities is immeasurable. With the elimination of waterborne health risks, the incidence of waterborne diseases has significantly decreased, leading to improved overall health. Additionally, the restoration of clean water has brought a sense of security and dignity to these communities, fostering a positive ripple effect on various aspects of their lives. We feel that our commitment to combining technology and sustainability has not only addressed a critical issue but has also become a beacon of hope for other communities facing similar challenges.

TODAY WE RECEIVED TWO MORE SPECIAL ELECTRICAL SPE-1000 CERTIFICATIONS FOR OUR LATEST WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS. CARRIED OUT BY LEAD ENGINEER SAJJAD OF @QAI LABORATORIES, THESE ARE ESSENTIALLY THE HIGHEST STAMP OF APPROVAL OBTAINABLE FOR OUR SYSTEMS.

We will use our privilege to help others.
This wonderful man Sajjad epitomizes the rare breed of individuals who not only share a common intention but also embody it in every aspect of their being. As a high-ranking member of QAI, one of North America's leading certification laboratories, his remarkable engineering acumen is matched only by his humility. Also, by his authenticity. There is not one thing about him that is not real. He is always wanting to personally travel to our facility (or to the field) for our next certification process of our projects, because he is driven by a profound understanding of our mission and the imperative to utilize our privilege to uplift those less fortunate.

Witnessing my team's pride today, not just in their technical achievements but in their alignment with why we do this in order to serve the indigenous landowners, was immeasurably gratifying. Liam Janzen, Chris Blackburn, Eli Hutchens

I get lost sometimes in the stresses and the weight of it. I think it's because the closer you get to the wonderful indigenous people we aim to assist, the more it ultimately can hurt. Today brought me right back down to earth and reminded me of all the good and the good people I have around me.
Engaging in such an endeavour, while undeniably challenging, draws us closer to the communities we serve, igniting a passion to make a meaningful difference. This journey reaffirms the fundamental principle that we are all interconnected and obligated to support one another, especially when we possess the means to do so.

I'm reminded again today of why I decided to do this in the first place. The desire to do right by others and at our core is the sense of purpose to make a difference and solve real world issues.

WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY REMOVED ANOTHER DRINKING WATER ADVISORY IN A FIRST NATION COMMUNITY!

THE DZAWADA'ENUXW may finally drink safe, clean water from their taps.

Our hearts are filled up again, as we were able to provide a clean drinking water system for the beautiful people of Dzawada'enuxw in the Ukwanalis Village, in remote Kingcome. We proudly add this the list of advisories we have been responsible in removing among First Nations and this in fact was a 'DO Not Consume' advisory, making it especially challenging water to treat. Our team, as Indigenous Services Canada states, "is the only one of it's kind that can do all the things we do" and we are definitely proud to be that!

This could not have been done without the trust of the community as well as the tireless aid of those in it! We cultivated lifelong friendships as we worked alongside some of the most proud and intentional women and men, we have had the pleasure of working with. We stayed in their beautiful community, ate, laughed, cried, failed, succeeded and 'came together'. That latter part is personally much of why I do this, and I am sure when I speak for my team, they would agree.

We assessed the water, the area and the conditions, and we went to work in constructing a complete set of filter treatment components in our facility. That would seem unlike any other day at the Clearflo production lab, however, this time what makes it unique is; we did so in order that it fit into the existing pumphouse in the community. We constructed it with transporting it via Sea and Aircraft to the remote community, in mind. This meant that it would need to be constructed in a 'fold down/pop up' construction. it took 28 days to construct and just 2.5 days to install with all the pre-planning paying off! I could not be prouder of my team; they are magnificent and carry hearts so large. They are so committed to seeing our Indigenous friends receive what everyone else takes for granted, safe clean drinking water.
